AMERICUS, GA (April 1, 2022) – On Friday, April 1st, Americus will hold its monthly “First Friday” downtown-wide open house. The theme for this month’s First Friday is “Artsapalooza”. Downtown Americus will focus on the arts and its unique varieties, while merchants will offer discounts, samples, giveaways, and more! Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with most shops and businesses staying open until 8 p.m. “First Friday After Dark” continues the festivities into the night starting at 7:30 p.m. with a kick-off event for the Americus Hot Glass Craft Beer Festival happening on Saturday, April 2nd. Live music by Dean Brown & Dubshak, glassblowing demonstrations by glass artists, and a fire performance by DelightFlow Duo are just a few of the exciting activities to look forward to that night.
Everyone is invited to come experience the city’s art, music, food, wares and crafts. Bring the family for a night of food, fun, and music! Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in several activities throughout downtown during the evening. The Americus Street Trolley will provide transportation during the event, cruising through downtown making stops at some of the most popular venues.
Attendees can also take advantage of great shopping deals downtown on Friday night. The Kinnebrew Company, Three’s Company Too, Code Black ATL, Forsyth Carousel, Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio & More, Minick Interiors, Topiaries, The Maze, Lily’s Southern Boutique, Art Hive, and The Americus Visitor Center will all be open late offering discounts, samples, special activities, and more!
Eat, drink, and listen to live music Friday night in Downtown Americus! Beginning at 5p.m., purchase an alcoholic beverage from any restaurant in downtown that serves and ask about the “Cocktail Caddy!” Americus Main Street provides special cups to those restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages which will allow attendees the opportunity to leave the establishment with their beverage in that special cup to walk around downtown and enjoy the event.
All activities, exhibits and performances are free of charge. Digital playbills detailing the evening’s events will be available via the Main Street Events qr-code available at any of the participating businesses open for the event, and on our Facebook and Instagram @downtownamericus. Printed Playbills will be available at the Americus Visitor Center.
This event is organized by Americus Main Street and the City of Americus. One of the goals of the organization is to cultivate downtown Americus’ economic and cultural enrichment by providing a platform for entertainment and social engagement to the general public on a regular basis.
