First Friday Americus: “Downtown Goes Disney”
AMERICUS, GA (August 2, 2022) – On Friday, August 5th, Americus will hold its monthly “First Friday” downtown-wide open house and transform into the Most Magical Place on Earth! This month’s First Friday is “Downtown Goes Disney” and will be complete with Character “Meet & Greets,” specialty vendors, and so much more. Bring your family downtown to enjoy the magic of Downtown Americus! Merchants will offer discounts, samples, and giveaways. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with most shops and businesses staying open until 8 p.m. “First Friday After Dark” continues the festivities into the night with food and drinks at downtown restaurants and bars.
Everyone is invited to come experience the city’s art, music, food, wares, and crafts. Bring the family for a night of food, fun, and music! Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in several activities throughout downtown during the evening. Also, the Americus Street Trolley will provide transportation during the event, cruising through downtown making stops at some of the most popular venues.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Pluto, Donald and Daisy Duck, and even Chip and Dale are said to be in attendance. But, others in attendance will be: Cinderella and Prince Charming, Snow White, Aurora, Jasmine and Aladdin, Ariel and Ursula, Merida, Tiana, Mirabel, Joy, Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Alice, The Mad Hatter, The White Rabbit, The Queen of Hearts, and so many more! Attendees can also take advantage of great shopping and dining deals downtown on Friday night. Businesses listed below will be open late uniquely decorated based on a Disney movie and offering discounts, samples, special activities, and more!

Eat, drink, and listen to live music Friday night in Downtown Americus! Beginning at 5 p.m., purchase an alcoholic beverage from any restaurant in downtown that serves and ask about the “Cocktail Caddy!” Americus Main Street provides special cups to those restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages which will allow attendees the opportunity to leave the establishment with their beverage in that special cup to walk around downtown and enjoy the event.
All activities, exhibits and performances are free of charge. Digital playbills detailing the evening’s events will be available via the Main Street Events qr-code available at any of the participating businesses open for the event, and on our Facebook and Instagram @downtownamericus. Printed playbills will be available at the Americus Visitor Center.
This event is organized by Americus Main Street and the City of Americus. One of the goals of the organization is to cultivate downtown Americus’ economic and cultural enrichment by providing a platform for entertainment and social engagement to the general public on a regular basis.
